---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Randy Grant <[email protected]> Date: Wednesday, October 30, 2024 Subject: Request for Committee Support – VFW Department of Hawaii To: Lynn Mariano <[email protected]>, Cc: Randy Grant <[email protected]> Aloha VFW Hawaii Members, I’d like to share an opportunity for all VFW Hawaii members in good standing to get involved at the Department level by serving on various committees. George Barlett, Department Adjutant, and Randy Grant, Department Chief of Staff, have chaired multiple committees over the years, and we now seek additional volunteers to help lead and support these essential roles. Please spread the word as we encourage members to join us in running and supporting these committees. The following committees need volunteers for the remainder of the 2024-2025 year and into the 2025-2026 year:
The Strategic Planning Committee plays a vital role by shaping the future of the organization. Through goal-setting, program assessment, and a structured roadmap, it guides us in fulfilling our mission. Responsibilities of the Strategic Planning Committee include defining goals, conducting a SWOT analysis, setting actionable objectives, establishing performance metrics, planning resources, engaging stakeholders, and maintaining regular reviews and adjustments. If you or someone you know is interested in joining a committee, please reach out to the VFW Department of Hawaii Commander, Senior Vice Commander, Adjutant, or Chief of Staff. Mahalo for your consideration and support in helping the VFW Department of Hawaii meet its mission. Best regards, Randy Grant Chief of Staff VFW Dept. of Hawaii |

---------- Forwarded message --------- From: Benedict Fuata <[email protected]> Date: Tue, Jul 23, 2024 at 9:12 AM Subject: Welcome to “The Grape Vine” To: Ben Fuata <[email protected]> Department of Hawaii Comrades & Auxiliary Ohana, Welcome to "The Grape Vine," my way of communicating with you all through the Coconut Wireless. This is a nod to our Vietnam Vets who are familiar with Creedence Clearwater Revival’s song, "I Heard It Through the Grapevine." Through this platform, I will share updated information concerning VFW National, our VFW Department of Hawaii, and respective Posts that cannot wait for our monthly "Lava Ledger" newsletter. Feel free to send your comments and requests to me so I can share them with the rest of our comrades. We are pleased to inform you that the revised 2024-2025 Commander's, Quartermaster's, and Trustee Guides are now available online at vfw.org. To access the complete guides or individual sections: 1. Log in to the VFW website. 2. Go to the "My VFW" page. 3. Find the guides under "Member/Post Resources." 4. Select "Bylaws: Training, Forms & Templates.” Additionally, a reminder for all Post Adjutants and Commanders to update your Post’s OMS and All-American Eligible Dashboard accounts, and submit your Community Service Hours to Comrade Ron Lockwood. We want to ensure you receive the recognition and credit you deserve. Remember to also capture your auxiliary members' hours and expenses as part of your Post total. If you have any questions concerning OMS or the Dashboard, please contact our Department Adjutant Ron Lockwood at [email protected]. Attached is a DRAFT copy of the 2024-2025 All-American requirements for your information. The official document will be published after the VFW National Convention in Louisville, Kentucky. Our All-State requirements for our department are currently being revised but will align closely with our national objectives with a few minor changes. We expect to publish it soon. Please use this Draft National requirement as a guide as you develop your individual Post strategies to achieve both All-American and All-State honors. I am confident we can achieve these goals by focusing our limited resources on streamlining our strategic objectives without compromising our support for our members, veterans, and their families. Finally, I leave you with a Quote of the Day: “Don't let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do.” - John R. Wooden Respectfully, Ben L.
