Veterans of Foreign Wars, for 125 years, are defenders of freedom from yesterday and today. We are a non-profit 501 (c) (19) organization. We often gather at the foot of Diamond Head in Waikiki at Elks Lodge 616 serving our fellow veterans, nation, and our community. There are no strangers here, only comrades you haven't met. This morning was a blessing to again share breakfast with Wendell Newman and VFW Post 8616. Wendell, landed on Normandy in the second wave landing as a combat medic. He is 103 years old now. This morning he told his VFW Commander, "He said, he was just doing his job and would do it again and again for freedom.” This photo was taken this morning at 0945 at the Waikiki Elks Lodge 616. |
